What has EANGUS done?
Founded in 1972, EANGUS is dedicated to promoting the interests and professionalism of enlisted personnel of the National Guard. An Association of Associations – 55 Chapters; 54 States and Territories plus one national chapter. EANGUS is the only military service organization that exists solely to represent the enlisted men and women of the National Guard, veterans, retirees and their families on Capitol Hill, the Pentagon and other governmental organizations.
- 1975 – Testified before Congress on retirement and employee benefits for National Guard and Reserve members.
- 1979 – Increased access to Space-A travel.
- 1979 – Fought for full-time manning (AGR pilot program).
- 1986 – Commissary benefits for Reservists allowing 14 days of access.
- 1988 – Secured ID cards for National Guard dependents.
- 1988 – Won the fight for BAH for single members of the National Guard.
- 1989 – Montgomery GI Bill expanded to include Vo-tech education.
- 1989 – Survivor Benefit Plan (SBP) available to National Guard and Reserve.
- 1991 – EANGUS We Care For America (WCFA) donates $53k to Guard Families.
- 1992 – VA Home Loan program authorized for reservists.
- 1994 – VA Burial Bill signed expanding burial benefits to National Guard and Reserve members.
